Secret Heart

Love is a many, splendid thing.
All you need is love.

Well, heart.

I've been thinking about heart all day long actually.
I personally believe that you should never give your heart to anyone.
And I think everyone has a heart.  Other than Martians and Vampires.  I think the former due to losing sight of it and the latter, well, undead.
And alas, it seems like in this world we are losing sight of our heart more and more.

Back to the prior.  I still don't think you should give anyone, and I mean anyone, your heart.  At this point in time, I don't think they can be trusted.  Lest they leave with a piece of it.  But don't worry, it'll grow back.
I think you should share your heart.  Share it with anyone willing to treat it with the same respect they would treat their own heart.  Or hell, share it with everyone, because if you share your heart, you never give it away, but those around you will experience it none the less.  In fact, mayhaps even more than they normally would.
And if you have something in you heart that you don't want to share with others, maybe, just maybe, you should figure out why you don't want to share that with someone.
Since more than likely, it is something not good for your heart anyway.

I also think the heart and soul are a connected system.  Just the soul knows what the heart has to learn.

Speaking of the title:
Feist - Secret Heart

A beautiful rendition of a wonderful song.  Which I apparently cannot find the original of.  Because I have totally heard an older version with male vocals and it is not Ron Sexsmith.  And my internet skills are sad.
Also of note, if we took the world as it appeared in music videos from the 80's, it was a really weird place.

And now I'm going to post the lyrics because they are freaking awesome:
Secret heart
What are you made of
What are you so afraid of
Could it be
Three simple words
Or the fear of being overheard
What's wrong

Let her in on your secret heart

Secret Heart
Why so mysterious
Why so sacred
Why so serious
Maybe you're
Just acting tough
Maybe you're just not bad enough
What's wrong

Let her in on your secret heart

This very secret
That you're trying to conceal
Is the very same one
You're dying to reveal
Go tell her how you feel

Secret heart come out and share it
This loneliness, few can bear it
Could it have something to do with
Admitting that you just can't go through it alone

Let her in on your secret heart

This very secret
That you're trying to conceal
Is the very same one
That you're dying to reveal
Go tell her how you feel
This very secret
Go out and share it
This very secret

Wow, that worked out well.
On a woo woo note, these lyrics are even more amazing.

I think that the heart is much more than love though.  It covers the ranges of endearment, lust, concern, sympathy, and so much more.  We don't value our hearts nearly enough.

And really, out of everything, I just think people forgot how to people.

To touch on the most recent events covering the news.  I don't think anything justifies the ridiculous response in Ferguson, Missouri.  Yes it is outrageous.  Yes it is a crime and the lack of justice is completely ludicrous. But that is absolutely no reason to vandalize and destroy anything.  That was an excuse to cause havoc and those people should be just as ashamed as the officer in question and the judicial system in that area.  Absolutely stupid.

Thus why heart is so important.  If we forget our own heart, how can we treat others with any ounce of respect.  More importantly, how can we treat ourselves with any amount of respect.  We need to become whole people.  Not those that seem to think it takes someone else, or some sort of act to complete ourselves.  It is not needed, and in fact detriments more than benefits our own progression.
Show and share your heart people.

And don't forget, you can't summon Captain Planet without heart.

  1. Very well put my love. Also, it looks like the song is originally Ron Sexsmith's but Rod Stewart did a cover of it before Feist did, so maybe that's the version you remember. ^.^
